BALUSTRADES / HANDRAILS / STAIRS

When manufacturing balustrades, handrails, stairs and any combination of these, attention to detail is essential.  Not only does it need to look good, it also needs to feel good with your hands. A high level of skill is required to do this kind of work well, as can be seen by the attached photos.  Being a local Adelaide manufacturer also means we are usually close by and are able to site measure for accuracy.

Balustrades

Pruszinski Fabrication are often required to fabricate balustrades for our customers.  We generally fabricate steel balustrades, which can be galvanised or powdercoated, but our balustrades can also be manufactured from Stainless Steel if required.

What is a balustrade?

A steel balustrade is usually made up of numerous vertical posts or a solid section (often framing glass).  Balustrades sit next to the stair treads, a ramp or the edge of a balcony, therefore they can be found either under a handrail or the top rail of it can be used as a handrail.  The main purpose of a balustrade is for safety, to stop people falling over the side of a stair, ramp, wall or balcony.

Handrails

Pruszinski Fabrication manufacture balustrade handrails and handrails for stairs / ramps, at our workshop in Golden Grove.  We can fabricate fully welded handrails from mild steel or stainless steel or we can use modular (Kwikclamp) fittings for the more budget orientated.  Our handrails are also able to be galvanised or powdercoated.

What is a handrail?

A stair handrail is the term used to describe the railing that runs along the staircase above a balustrade or incorporated into the top of the balustrade.  Handrails, installed at the correct height, can be held with your hand.  A handrail can also be installed directly onto a wall.  Handrails act as a support or guide when going up or down stairs and ramps.  In certain situations tactile bumps are required to be placed just before the end of a handrail for the visually impaired.
